‌From the Director

‌Beck Krefting

This fall, I am struck by the enormity and importance of the work we do in higher education, which bell hooks captures nicely here:

‌“Thinking is an action. For all aspiring intellectuals, thoughts are the laboratory where one goes to pose questions and find answers, and the place where visions of theory and praxis come together. The heartbeat of critical thinking is the longing to know — to understand how life works.”

‌—  bell hooks, Teaching Critical Thinking (2010)

‌It is an honor to be of service to that work. Best wishes for a scintillating and productive fall semester.

This space devoted to CLTL events is also available as a (quiet) workspace each weekday morning from 9 a.m. to noon. Folks participating in the Scholarly/Creative Endeavors (SCE) Work Groups are encouraged to use this space before meeting for lunch.
