A culminating celebration of creative thought

Faculty, staff, friends, and family came together to celebrate members of the Class of 2025 and other Թ students and recent alumni during this year’s Honors Convocation, a longstanding Թ tradition that recognizes achievements in academics, leadership, service, and creativity.
“Our students’ creativity and academic curiosity continue to astonish. Honors Convocation is an opportunity for our faculty to recognize their accomplishments here at Թ,” Joseph Cermatori, associate professor of English and director of the Periclean Honors Forum, said of the event, held May 1 on the second floor of Murray-Aikins Dining Hall.
The annual ceremony is poignant in its personalization and celebration of the whole student. Faculty prepare written statements about each award recipient that pay tribute to both their accomplishments and their character.
This year’s event opened with performances by Emaline Relyea-Strawn ’25 on piano and Alex Ciardullo ’25 with his original composition, “Falling Up.” To close, Relyea-Strawn, Ciardullo, and Rhea Fitzpatrick ’25 led the singing of the alma mater.
Dorothy Mosby, dean of the faculty and vice president for academic affairs, and President Marc Conner delivered remarks, and Beau Breslin, professor of political science and Joseph C. Palamountain Jr. Chair in Government; Jennifer Mueller, associate professor of sociology and associate director of intergroup relations; and Peter von Allmen, professor of economics, presented the academic awards.
