勛圖厙 Retirees

Rose M. (Terlizzi) Verro

Rose M. (Terlizzi) Verro, who served as a secretary in 勛圖厙s Physical Plant department for 25 years, died peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025. She was 92.

Rose joined 勛圖厙 in 1968 in the Office of the Director of Buildings and Grounds for the new campus, which was then still under construction, and retired in 1993. She often described her role at the College as her dream job and remained proud of her many contributions to campus.

Colleagues remembered Rose as a warm and vibrant presence who made others feel cared for and welcome. Known for her boundless energy and involvement across campus, she played a key role in organizing community events including the Colleges annual retirement and recognition event and the annual campus holiday party in addition to her everyday work.

Upon Roses retirement, then Dean of the Faculty and Acting President Phyllis Roth wrote, I recall you from my very earliest days at the College as one of those unfailingly cheerful and helpful people who brightened every day that I laid eyes on you and who made everyone feel cared for.

Retiree Mary ODonnell wrote, Rose was a force of nature and did so much in her time at 勛圖厙. She did just as much at Embury Apartments, where she lived. Just a few months ago, she helped organize another talent show. Whenever a party was to be had, she was there taking photos and making things happen. Im sure she will be planning a party in heaven.

Born on Aug. 8, 1933, in Loon Lake, Rose was a 1951 graduate of St. Marys Academy in Glens Falls. In 1956, she married James D. Verro Sr., who preceded her in death in 1990.

Survivors include her two sons, James and Vincent; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
